Summary

The Lake Lily Park restroom pavilion is part of the Cultural Corridor Master Plan being implemented for the City of Maitland. Borrelli + Partners, Inc. (B+P) was responsible for the architecture and engineering of the three-building pavilion, as well as for the general design coordination of all park structures.

The restroom pavilion is located in an historically sensitive area and is primarily used by visitors to Lake Lily Park and the adjacent Waterhouse Museum. Bicyclists and pedestrians using cultural corridor paths also have access to the facilities located at the pavilion.

B+P utilized the historic site as the starting point for the design concept of the pavilion. A modern interpretation of vernacular construction methods and materials satisfied both historical and maintenance issues. The project also included the design of two small shade pavilions to be used by park patrons.

Natural ventilation was also a requirement of the City, and a high continuous opening was incorporated into the wall system to provide increased ventilation.
