Dinky Line Trail

Details

Client: City of Orlando

Location: Orlando, FL

Cost: $3,100,000

Size: 0.9 Mile Segment

Summary

The Dinky Line Trail is a part of the overall Orlando Urban Trail that is planned to eventually connect to Church Street and the Events Center in Downtown Orlando. The Dinky Line Trail Bridge from Winter Park to Lake Formosa is already complete. The completion of the trail along Haven Drive in the Lake Formosa Neighborhood was coordinated with developers of the Mills Park development.

Borrelli + Partners designed the 0.9 mile segment between Virginia Drive and Magnolia Avenue. The alignment of the trail generally follows the old rail spur with a shift between Ferris Avenue and Highland Avenue to route around the Lake Highland Preparatory School Sports Complex and take advantage of the vistas of the Downtown Orlando Skyline.

Our scope of work included signage design, landscape and amenities design, developing design and construction documents, cost estimates, specifications, permitting, bidding and construction observation for the design of a shared-use pathway within the right-of-way of the old Dinky Line Railroad.

A portion of the project was funded through an FDOT LAP Grant and the plans and specs comply with FDOT Guidelines.
