Grand Opening of Pet Alliance’s New Shelter
Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, Central Florida officials, and community members celebrated the grand opening of its new animal shelter in Orlando, a state-of-the-art facility designed by Borrelli + Partners!
The new campus, home to the Kylie J. Capri Campus and Edward H. Hensley Adoption Center, significantly expands Pet Alliance’s ability to care for animals in need, providing space to house dogs and cats that might otherwise be euthanized. The 25,980-square-foot Orlando Animal Shelter houses the largest shelter-based veterinary clinic in the state of Florida.

Designed with both animal well-being and operational efficiency in mind, the shelter includes climate-controlled animal areas, individual cat condos, walking trails for dogs, a medical suite for ill or injured animals, and disease-specific quarantine areas for both dogs and cats. The facility also features specialized housing for long-term dog residents and incorporates noise-mitigation strategies throughout the building to create a calmer environment for animals and staff.

Built with functionality and long-term life-cycle cost considerations at the forefront, the new shelter represents a major step forward for Pet Alliance’s mission to protect and care for animals across Central Florida.

Orlando District 6 Commissioner Mike Scott reflected on the significance of the moment, saying, “These pets are some of the most important members of our families. This has been a long time coming, and I’m happy to be here to celebrate this moment with the community.”
Saturday’s grand opening brought together community leaders, donors, volunteers, and project partners to celebrate the completion of a facility designed to give thousands of animals a second chance at finding their forever homes.
